Summary

One fateful night, the moon shines so big and so bright that it is too heavy to hold itself up in the sky。 When it tumbles down and breaks into many glimmering pieces, Luna sees the whole thing。 Her grandfather Poppa warns that without the moon in the sky, the oceans will stop moving and the earth will start to wobble。 Luna and Poppa must mend it, but they may not be able to do it all on their own。

The mountain is alive with creatures big and small whose watchful eyes also saw the moon fall。 Together, can they find all the shards, stick them together, and get the moon safely back into the sky?

In this enchanting tale with a timeless, folklore feel, a girl, her grandfather, and all the animals of the mountain hold the power to set the world right and forever leave their mark on the moon。

Mending the Moon is a powerful story tenderly told and enchantingly illustrated。When the sad moon could no longer hold itself up in the sky, it tumbled down to Earth and broke into pieces。 Little Luna with her Poppa and mountain animals came to its rescue。 But what happens when they couldn’t find a missing piece? How do they stick the parts back together? And how will they get the moon back up in the sky? The beautifully written text has an old-world feel which I love - almost like a folktale - but it's definitely a contemporary story - and kids will relate to the main character and they'll love the relationship between Luna and her grandfather。The illustrations are just glorious!!!And I think kids will relate to the problem that Luna and her grandfather must solve - we live in just such a world where disaster always seems imminent。 The beautifully written text has an old-world feel which I love - almost like a folktale - but it's definitely a contemporary story - and kids will relate to the main character and they'll love the relationship between Luna and her grandfather。The illustrations are just glorious!!!And I think kids will relate to the problem that Luna and her grandfather must solve - we live in just such a world where disaster always seems imminent。 。。。more

This is a beautiful and dreamy picture book for young children that would make for a nice bedtime read aloud。 The narrative has a nice pace and rhythm to it and the stunning illustrations really celebrate the moon and the natural world well。 It appeals to a child's imagination and has the feel of a classic folktale。 The theme of people (and wild creatures) coming together is lovely, all to repair the broken moon。 When they get the moon back together it's not quite "perfect" but they realize mayb This is a beautiful and dreamy picture book for young children that would make for a nice bedtime read aloud。 The narrative has a nice pace and rhythm to it and the stunning illustrations really celebrate the moon and the natural world well。 It appeals to a child's imagination and has the feel of a classic folktale。 The theme of people (and wild creatures) coming together is lovely, all to repair the broken moon。 When they get the moon back together it's not quite "perfect" but they realize maybe that's how it was meant to be all along。 It's a nice metaphor and done through a memorable narrative。***Note: I was given a review copy of this book via Page Street Kids。 Opinions are my own。 。。。more

I received an electronic ARC from Page Street Kids through SLJ Day of Dialogue。Beautifully illustrated book。 Luna sees the moon fall and shatter。 together with her grandfather and the forest animals, she puts the moon back together。 It takes cooperation from all sorts of animals to repair the moon and return it to the sky。 A powerful story of cooperation and commitment to care for the world and moon。

This beautifully illustrated book was such a delight not only on the eyes, but the lyrical language and smooth flowing prose really kept me reading。The story itself is lovely and unique with great loveable characters。 Blown away by the whimsical energy in this book - such a must have book 😁

This is such a peaceful, magical story。 Lyrical words paired with whimsical pictures create such a gentle tone。 In a lot of ways, this story feels timeless。 It's nostalgic of great fairytale classics and deals with evergreen themes like teamwork, helping out, and caring for the Earth。 Few books read equally well as a bedtime story AND classroom read aloud -- but this one does! It's as tender as it is thought-provoking。 Thought it was a lovely read。 This is such a peaceful, magical story。 Lyrical words paired with whimsical pictures create such a gentle tone。 In a lot of ways, this story feels timeless。 It's nostalgic of great fairytale classics and deals with evergreen themes like teamwork, helping out, and caring for the Earth。 Few books read equally well as a bedtime story AND classroom read aloud -- but this one does! This book is absolutely beautiful and is the perfect bedtime read。 The story within is a lovely example of how when we feel broken, we can seek help to mend the pieces-and even though we might not be exactly the same when we are put back together, it’s exactly how we are supposed to be。

This is an incredibly beautiful picture book about working together, the beauty of nature, and one magical night for a little girl (Luna), her grandpa, and the animals of the forest。 The artwork is absolutely stunning and compliments the sweet, lyrical text perfectly。 A definite must-have!
